Incorporate Lots of Protein Into Your Diet for Healthy Hair

Hair is made up of protein. This is why a diet rich in this nutrient is essential to promoting hair growth and for maintaining healthy hair. On the other hand, a diet lacking in sufficient protein may result in hair thinning and hinder regrowth.

Top 3 Protein Sources:
  • Eat lots of Salmon, which is rich in Omega 3; a deficiency may result in dry scalp and hair. Omega 3 fatty acids also support healthy skin. Other good sources of protein include: liver, fish, eggs, beans, cottage cheese and yogurt
  • Research shows that Soy Protein is very helpful in stimulating hair growth. Soy protein consumption is said to also support healthier-looking skin and nails. Tofu is a good source of Soy Protein.
  • Nuts are also a great source of protein. They are also high in zinc, which is an important component of healthy hair and skin, especially for acne sufferers. A zinc deficiency may lead to hair shedding. Cashews, pecans, and almonds are  great sources of zinc.

Finally, the USDA recommends that the average adult consume 5.5 ounces of protein each day.
